“The Ridiculous 6” is painful to watch
Directed by: Frank Coraci
And the list goes on and on… The list I am referring to is the cast list of Adam Sandler’s “The Ridiculous 6”. Shockingly, there are many talented and funny people involved in what may be the least funny movie I have seen since… well Adam Sandler’s “Jack and Jill” (why the hell do I let myself watch ANY of his films at this point in my life is beyond me). I mean the fact that Harvey Keitel, Steve Buscemi, and John Turturro are involved with something this awful made me want to throw my remote through the tv and denounce Netflix as my top entertainment choice. Okay… sorry. I am going on a rant, and you came here for a review.
I really don’t want to revisit the “Plot” of this film, but for uniformity sake I will. It’s going to be VERY brief though. Tommy (Sandler), aka White Knife, is forced into a quest to save his father (Nick Nolte) from the desperado Cicero (Danny Trejo), after Cicero kidnaps him for owing him $50,000. During his adventure, he meets a series of relatives he didn’t know he had, each one more ill-conceived (and less funny) than the last. Basically, they have a few shootouts with some bad guys, insult some native Americans (mostly women of course), and the ending is as stupid as you can get. The whole thing is painful to watch. In fact the only things more painful are the way they stereotype native Americans and the fact that Sandler has a four film deal with Netflix which means this idiocy is far from over.
“The Ridiculous 6” is one of the worst things I have seen in a long, long time. In fact, I don’t believe a single laugh escaped my lips. Don’t watch it. It will only make you question the sanity of your teenage self, for laughing at Sandler then (was “Happy Gilmore” funny or did I just have a terrible sense of humor back then?). Anyway… yeah, skip this movie. There… I saved you. My good deed of the day is finished. Now can we get back to some quality entertainment?
