Set in a small town, ‘Let Us Prey’ is the story of one man’s journey to make wrongdoers pay for their sins, and how everyone’s past will catch up to them sooner-or-later. Never getting into the territory of being preachy, O’Malley makes sure the film stays fun, dark, and over the top crazy. An inmate banging his head against the prison bars, a cop that has no problem wiping out people he sees as a threat, and a character that wraps themselves in barbed wire comes into the prison with a shotgun looking for trouble. These are just a few of the things that happen in this film that make it impossible to look away or get bored. ‘Let Us Prey’ is the perfect balance of drama, thriller, and horror, offering something for everyone.

Liam Cunningham (Game of Thrones) plays the man that comes to town and starts uncovering everyone’s past. His stoic demeanor plays really well with the chaos the other scenes in the film possess. While he is the most dangerous person in the room, he’s also the one the viewer will gravitate towards — maybe in a ‘make friends with the devil’ kind of way. McIntosh plays P.C. Rachel Heggie — a new cop on the scene that is thrust into a terrifying situation that is threatening to explode at any moment. I like the way McIntosh plays the character, as well as the way she was written. In most films like these, the protagonist seems to always be one step ahead, but in this film, Heggie is constantly a half step behind and it makes the story more believable while making her character more likable and authentic.

A lot of great imagery, interesting storylines that you would think wouldn’t go together but end up fitting nicely, and a strong script help make O’Malley’s directorial debut a success.
